In operation since 1928, the Paradise Theatre has entertained thousands and is committed to increasing the excellence of our productions while maintaining the historic small-town energy our patrons love.
We are looking for a Director with a variety of skills, the most important of which is the ability to work with a diverse range of people. A history of strong business management and successful fundraising is important. Fundraising methods include: grant writing, programming and promoting live shows, capital campaigns, membership drives, etc. After the interim period, the Board plans to split the duties into two positions. We’re looking for a solid leader who can work with the existing Executive Director, Michael Cooper, to take over the day to day activities as well as collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop the Theatre’s future path. The ability to communicate positively and delegate tasks to a team is critical.
Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for overall management and operation of the Paradise Theatre and protection of the organization’s financial assets while ensuring compliance with board directives and applicable grantor, federal and state requirements. The ED will have overall operational responsibility for FOPT’s staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission.
The current mission statement is: The Friends of the Paradise Theatre (FOPT) builds community through educational events, films, live music and Theatre.
All candidates must have proven experience in:
- Leadership, training, and management of staff
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, financial analysis, and fundraising
- Public Relations
- Strategic planning
Additional beneficial experience:
- Nonprofit management
- Performance facilities operations
- Event production
- Grant writing
- Marketing
The following are some of the current additional duties of the Executive Director. The board would like to shift many of these duties to a Theater Manager role in the near future.
- Social Media campaign strategy and posting (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram); weekly Newsletter/website updates
- Managing events and film ticketing
- Point of contact for rentals. Creating letters of Agreement/Contracts/Invoices and updating event calendar
- Calculating box office splits and contractor payments
- Scheduling weekly marketing and promotions
- Ordering concessions/replenishing inventory COG and supplies
- Scheduling staff for weekly events and films via Homebase and scheduling weekly theater cleanings
- Getting change for back bank
- Basic Lights/Sound/Projector maintenance and operation
- General stage management for events
- Programming and Booking talent/musicians for live shows
This position currently pays $44,000 to $50,000 a year, depending on hours, as a wage. Part time or full time will be considered for the right candidate.
