Lillie Mae (born Lillie Mae Rische on June 26, 1991, in Illinois) is an American country and Americana singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and fiddle player. She is best known for her solo work on Third Man Records and her extensive background performing as a child in a nomadic sibling band.
Sibling Act and Jack White Partnership
Before launching her solo career, Lillie Mae performed alongside her siblings in the band Jypsi, as well as the Rische Family Band. At 19 years old, she began working with Jack White at his Nashville-based studio, Third Man Records. She played fiddle, mandolin, and sang backup on several of White’s projects, including his solo albums and the Lone Ranger soundtrack.
Solo Career
After signing to Third Man Records as a solo artist, Lillie Mae released her debut solo album, Forever and Then Some, in 2017, which was produced by Jack White. This was followed by the critically acclaimed album Other Girls in 2019, and Festival Eyes in 2023. Her sound is characterized as a blend of traditional country, bluegrass, alt-country, and Americana.
