Back by popular demand, the musical play Back in the Dreamtime will be performed as part of Cherry Days in Paonia, with showings at 7 pm on Thursday, July 3; and 2 pm on Saturday, July 5 at the Paradise Theatre. The play sold out during in April performances at the Paradise.
Back in the Dreamtime is about a 47th high school reunion of 1965 graduates in a small Colorado town. The dreams of youthful baby-boomers and nearly 50 years of reality collide as old loves and would-be lovers are reunited, lost opportunities are mourned, and lives are assessed. The play has been described as “hilarious and thought-provoking with songs that will stay in your mind for days after the curtain falls.”
Playwright Marty Durlin (DHS, Class of ’65) wrote the play after attending her 41st high school reunion in Delta.
The talented cast of 11 local actor-singers includes Paula Harper, Greg Peterson, Pam Petersen, Rand Kokernot, Colin Dunbar, Brenda Joyce Coda, Don Foster, Sue Everest, Lenore Cambria, Phyllis Swackhamer, and Amy Michelle Hoyt. Durlin is directing the play. Multi-instrumentalist Ellen Hutto is musical director, along with Jenell Wehn on piano, Eames Petersen on guitar and Geoff Oslund on bass. Pam Petersen is vocal director and Lenore Cambria is choreographer.
